About This Role
## Sales Development Representative (Media-First) — Freight Agency
A freight agency built around teams of experienced logistics people is hiring a Sales Development Representative who can work a phone list in the morning and film a 30-second video pitch in the afternoon. This is a pipeline-building role for someone who sells by phone, email, and camera. The agency specializes in time-critical truckload, project freight, and expedited shipments, and competes on execution: a network that has stood the test of time, transparent pricing, and A+ communication.
### The role
You will open doors with new shippers and hand qualified opportunities to the sales team. Half your day is traditional outbound: dials, email sequences, objection handling. The other half is building a presence that makes prospects recognize your name before you call: LinkedIn posts, personalized video pitches, and short-form content that shows how freight actually moves.
### What you will do
**Traditional outbound**
- 40-50 targeted dials a day to shippers, plant managers, and logistics decision-makers
- Build and run cold email sequences, follow up until you get a yes, a no, or a date
- Handle objections like "we already have a broker" and turn them into a trial load or a quote request
- Qualify prospects on lanes, volume, freight type, and pain points; book meetings for the sales team
- Log every touch in the TMS/CRM the same day
**Social selling**
- Grow an active LinkedIn presence among shippers, supply chain leaders, and manufacturers
- Write 3-5 posts a week: freight market updates, problem-solved stories, behind-the-scenes looks at an expedite
- Send personalized video pitches (Loom, Vidyard, or similar) to high-value prospects before or after a call
- Engage daily: comment on prospects' posts, join industry conversations, start DMs that lead to calls
**Content production**
- Self-shoot and edit short-form video (30-90 seconds) on a phone, using tools like CapCut or Descript
- Write hook-and-story copy that makes a shipper stop scrolling
- Script your own call openers, voicemails, and video pitches, and test what converts
- Repurpose wins into content (with permission): a hot-shot save, a project move, a tight-deadline delivery
### Who you are
You are a media-first salesperson: resilient on the phone and creative on camera. You would rather make the call than wait for the inbound.
**Must have**
- 1+ year in outbound sales, SDR/BDR work, or another quota-carrying role
- Comfortable cold calling all day and hearing "no" without losing energy
- A visible social presence you have built yourself (LinkedIn, Instagram, or TikTok); include the link in your application
- Can write clean, punchy copy without a template
- Can shoot and edit a basic short-form video on your phone
- Organized enough to run a call list, an email sequence, and a content calendar at the same time
**Nice to have**
- Freight brokerage, 3PL, trucking, or supply chain experience
- Experience with video prospecting tools (Loom, Vidyard) and email sequencing tools
- A following or posting history in a B2B niche
- Familiarity with a TMS or CRM
**Traits**
- Competitive and coachable
- Fast responder: prospects and teammates hear back from you in minutes, not hours
- Curious about how businesses ship and what keeps their logistics managers up at night
### How success is measured
Clear weekly targets from day one, tracked on a shared scorecard shared between you and your manager.
| Activity | Target |
|---|---|
| Outbound dials | 40-60 per day |
| Personalized video pitches | 15 per week |
| LinkedIn posts | 3-5 per week |
| Short-form videos published | 2-3 per week |
| Qualified meetings booked | 1+ per week |
| Response time to prospect emails and chats | Under 5 minutes during work hours |
In your first 90 days, you will learn the service lines, build your target list, and establish a posting rhythm. By month six, your content should be generating conversations you did not have to cold call for.
### The seat
- Location: Charlotte, NC
- Full-time, W-2 direct hire
- Compensation: base salary negotiable plus uncapped commission on new accounts you open
- Bonuses for new accounts that reach volume or gross profit milestones
- Health, dental, vision; PTO; retirement
- Phone, lighting, and tools budget for content production
- A clear path from SDR to Account Executive with your own book of business
### How to apply
Skip the cover letter. Send:
1. Your resume
2. A link to your LinkedIn, Instagram, or TikTok
3. A 30-second video pitch selling the agency to a manufacturer who needs a load moved tomorrow. Shoot it on your phone; we are judging the hook and the energy, not the production.
Equal opportunity employer.
