This is a seat for someone who treats compliance as a competitive advantage, not overhead. ### What you will own - NVOCC regulatory compliance: FMC tariff maintenance, OTI license upkeep, bond posture, House Bill of Lading issuance standards - Export documentation: AES / EEI filings, country-of-origin determinations, HTS classification, denied-party / sanctions screening (OFAC SDN, BIS Entity List) - US Customs and Border Protection program: in-house AMS submission, ISF (10+2) filing, recordkeeping, reasonable care, broker oversight, post-entry audit response - USDA FSIS export compliance for US meat, poultry, and egg programs: health certificates, Export Library requirements, destination-country veterinary and phytosanitary flows - Cold chain compliance tied to industry food-export certifications (USMEF / USAPEEC): temperature chain documentation, destination cold-store receiving requirements - Dangerous goods compliance across all nine IMO / IMDG hazard classes: in-house DG declarations, DG-certified staff training, carrier acceptance workflows - Country-specific export compliance across the Middle East, Southeast Asia, East Asia, Europe, and Latin America - Written SOPs across every lane and commodity, serving as the single point of accountability on FMC, CBP, USDA, and IMO audits ### Who we're looking for - 5+ years in trade compliance at a freight forwarder, NVOCC, customs broker, or 3PL - Direct experience with FMC-licensed NVOCC operations and / or House Bill of Lading issuance strongly preferred - Working knowledge of AMS, ISF, AES / EEI, and in-house filing workflows (not just vendor oversight) - US food export documentation (USDA FSIS Export Library, country veterinary and phyto certification flows) - IMO / IMDG dangerous goods: declarations, hazard class knowledge, carrier acceptance rules - CBP compliance program ownership: HTS classification, denied-party screening, reasonable care posture - One or more of: Licensed Customs Broker (LCB), Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), Certified Export Specialist (CES), IATA / IMDG DG certification - Comfortable being the final word on the gray calls — you draft the SOP, you own the audit, you say yes or no at the booking ### The seat - Preferred: New Jersey (NY / NJ metro). Remote considered for the right background. - Reports into executive leadership. - Compensation: negotiable, commensurate with experience and certification mix. Market band for this scope and geography is roughly $90K-$130K base plus benefits. - Full-time direct hire.
