About This Role
A global freight forwarding and logistics company, founded in 1976 and operating out of more than
120 offices across 40 countries, is hiring a Business Development Manager to drive new business
across transportation, logistics, forwarding, and warehousing solutions. This is a hunter-focused
producer seat tied to an assigned territory, selling into a mature global platform with industry-
leading supply chain visibility technology.
What you will do
• Acquire and retain profitable business relationships, generating quota revenues through
transportation, logistics services, and related sales situations
• Develop and maintain expert knowledge of customers, competitors, and the marketplace
• Build and execute successful account sales strategies, leveraging the tools, technology,
network personnel, and training provided
• Define the optimal target account, analyze the sales arena, and use positioning strategies to
exploit the company's unique value proposition
• Develop and execute a yearly business plan consistent with the National Sales Plan for your
assigned territory
• Report sales activity, business opportunities, results, and competitor intelligence to
leadership
• Attend training, workshops, and professional societies; build a personal network to maintain
professional and technical knowledge
• Travel, client entertainment, and evening or weekend sales activities as business development
requires
• Comply with C-TPAT security requirements and uphold the company's Core Values
What we are looking for
• Minimum 5 years of sales experience required (10+ years industry sales experience strongly
preferred)
• Strong working knowledge of sales strategies at every level of a client's organization
• Refined probing ability to identify customer needs, potential solutions, and sales
opportunities
• Demonstrated closing ability that brings the sales cycle to a successful conclusion
• Strong objection handling, internally and externally, professionally and successfully
• Confident, "can do" attitude; takes ownership and accountability for actions, activities,
personal development, and results
• Strong relationship management skills, developing internal and external rapport and creating
value for both the client and the company
• Excellent negotiating skills to gain and maintain sufficient margins
• Strong organizational skills, including while traveling
• Excellent oral and written communication
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based, and job-specific
applications; ability to become proficient in proprietary technology platforms
• Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent
work experience
Compensation: $75,000 to $110,000 base. Commission structure may apply per role classification.
