About This Role
A growing freight brokerage is hiring a Carrier Compliance Manager to own the carrier vetting,
onboarding, and ongoing compliance function end to end. This role is the first line of defense
against fraud, double-brokerage, and non-compliant carrier activity, and the person in this seat
is a critical partner to the sales, operations, and carrier sales teams. This is a fully remote
role.
What you will do
• Own the carrier onboarding workflow: authority verification, insurance certificates, W-9s, and
all documentation required to bring a carrier onto the network cleanly
• Continuously monitor active carriers for compliance drift: expired insurance, suspended
authority, safety-rating changes, out-of-service events, MC/DOT status changes
• Run fraud checks and identity verification on new and suspicious carrier registrations, with a
sharp eye for double-brokerage and identity-theft patterns
• Maintain and enforce the carrier scorecard: performance, on-time metrics, claims history,
dispute frequency
• Partner with carrier sales and operations to make fast, defensible go / no-go calls on new
capacity when the desk is under load pressure
• Own the response to CBP, DOT, FMCSA, or insurance-carrier inquiries related to compliance
events on the brokerage's carrier base
• Build and maintain documentation, SOPs, and internal training so the compliance function
scales with the business
What we are looking for
• Prior carrier compliance, carrier onboarding, or freight-brokerage compliance experience
(freight brokerage, 3PL, or asset-lite carrier)
• Working knowledge of FMCSA / DOT regulations, MC authority, insurance requirements, and the
common tools of the trade (Carrier411, MyCarrierPortal, RMIS, Highway, or similar)
• Sharp fraud instincts and comfort saying no to a load-desk under pressure when a carrier
does not check out
• Strong process orientation and the discipline to keep documentation clean and audit-ready
• Confident, direct communicator who partners well with sales and ops without being a bottleneck
• Fully remote and self-directed; comfortable owning outcomes without supervision
Compensation is negotiable and based on experience.
