Ocean Import Operator

An established international freight forwarder and customs brokerage in the Chicago metro is adding an Ocean Import Operator to the team. This is an in-office role at the Elk Grove Village office, working alongside a tenured operations desk on FCL and LCL ocean import shipments. What you'll do • Coordinate ocean import shipments end to end: booking through delivery • Manage documentation (bills of lading, arrival notices, ISF, customs handoffs) • Communicate with steamship lines, terminals, drayage providers, and customs brokers • Track shipments, resolve exceptions, and keep the customer informed • Work cross-functionally with the customs and domestic teams to keep freight moving What we're looking for • Prior experience as an ocean import operator or coordinator at a freight forwarder or NVOCC • Comfortable with steamship line and terminal portals, common TMS/forwarding systems • Detail-oriented, calm under a busy desk, strong written communication • Willingness / ability to work on-site in Elk Grove Village Compensation is $55,000–$70,000 base, with room to go higher for the right level of experience.
