About This Role
# Aviation Faculty — Flight & Ground Instructor
An established collegiate aviation program in the Midwest (Dubuque, IA area) is expanding its flight-training faculty. This is a **FAA Part 141 collegiate flight school** operating a modern training fleet (single- and multi-engine). The program is growing its instructor ranks ahead of upcoming retirements and wants to bring on multiple hires.
**This is the program's top hiring priority.** They're looking to roughly double the size of the flight faculty, so multiple hires are available for the right instructors.
## What You'll Do
- **Teach and mentor the next generation of professional pilots** — classroom ground school plus flight instruction.
- Instruct across the core curriculum: **private, instrument, and commercial** ground and/or flight courses.
- Carry a teaching load of roughly **24 credit hours annually**, using varied instructional methods.
- Contribute to curriculum, student advising, and the day-to-day life of a collegiate aviation department.
## What You Bring
**Required:**
- **FAA ground or flight instructor certification** capable of instructing private, instrument, and commercial ground school courses.
- A genuine desire to teach and mentor students, not just log hours.
**Preferred:**
- **Graduate degree** (or progress toward one) in aviation or a related field.
- Collegiate or Part 141 flight-training experience.
- Additional FAA certificates/ratings (CFII, MEI) — strengthens the fit.
## Who This Is For
CFIs and aviation professionals who want a **stable, benefits-backed teaching career** instead of the flight-school hour-building grind — including experienced instructors, retiring airline/military aviators who want to give back, and current collegiate adjuncts ready for a full-time seat.
## Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary, commensurate with experience and certifications
- **Excellent benefits package**: tuition remission, retirement match, paid holidays, vacation & sick time
- Stable, mission-driven collegiate environment — a career home for an instructor who wants off the hour-building treadmill
## Location
- **Dubuque, IA (on-site)** — this is a campus-based role.
